“Living For Eternity”
Matthew 18:19-20 “I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you. Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you.”
- Why should you care about eternity
Eternity is an endless period of time, and everyone of us today long for it. Eternity is what happens after death. You may choose to believe this or not. But eternity will happen. You will spend forever, somewhere.
When I was growing up I use to HATE going to my grandmas house. For one I hated all the work I had to do, help grandma with this, help grandma with that. And for me as a young kid it felt like forever. Can anyone relate with that? The feeling that you're never going to leave a certain place. Thats how I felt about grandmas house.
Now there's two different emotions to that as we grow up, there's places that we go that we wish we could never go again and its like torture the whole time we're there. And then there's places we go that we wish we could stay FOREVER at we wish we never had to leave. For my wife that place is Chucky Cheese.... Just Kidding, '
But its probably like Michaels or somewhere she can be creative and make things.
Eternity is going to be forever and you're going to spend it somewhere and its never going to end.
The bible constantly talks about life after death. And the bible along with Jesus consistently talks about the two places that you have the choice in going.
Heaven or Hell.
One places God lives and there is peace and the other place nothing but torment and sin live along with the devil and his demons.
If you ever find yourself in the place where you are questioning life and death and your faith. STUDY on heaven and hell. It will help you wake up spiritually.
In fact there are two books that I would recommend you read what is called 90 minutes in heaven, its a best selling book that you can find at Wal-Mart or any Christian book store and the other is called 23 minutes in hell. Both of these books will encourage you and answer questions on a biblical basis concerning Heaven and Hell.
With all that said that leads us to our 2nd Point
- Who's going to be there?
Matthew 7:13-14 13 "Enter through the narrow gate. The gate is wide and the road is wide that leads to hell, and many people enter through that gate. 14 But the gate is small and the road is narrow that leads to true life. Only a few people find that road.
Luke 16:20-26 (KJV)
20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
So who's going to be there? Everyone will go to heaven or hell.
The difference on who will go to heaven and who will go to hell ?
If you believe or not.
If you believe or not.
If you believe Jesus Christ is the savior from sin, that he is God's son and that he died for you. Then all you have to do is pray and believe and ask him for forgiveness.
John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die
Jesus is talking about eternity, about life AFTER death.
John 3:16 16 God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
So What we know tonight is that YOUR BELIEF, RELATIONSHIP AND COMMUNICATION with Jesus determines WHERE you spend eternity if thats heaven or hell.
Its like going to a SOLD out concert. You have to purchase that ticket AHEAD of time if you plan on going. Because if you just SHOW up the day of the concert with no money, no tickets and no plan.. They will not let you in.
In the same way JESUS is our ticket to heaven, he is our key to eternities door.
And we have to make plans for it ahead of time.
What the bible says about hell
Matthew 13:42 42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
What the bible says about Heaven
Revelation 21:4 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Stop worrying about EVERYTHING else, start living for eternity, start living for the rest of eternity, stop worrying about money, cars, school, friends and start worrying about eternity.
