A Servant's Heart

What are you doing in your world to make a difference? How are you making an impact in your family, your school, and your relationships? Are you doing anything at all? As children of the king, we are meant to stand out. We are called to make a difference.

Matthew 20:26-28 says:
Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.

Who are you serving in your life? Frequently people in churches say they would love to do something, but the chance was never offered to them, or the opportunity never came up. God doesn't call us to be a people that sit around waiting for his specifics. He doesn't always hand us an opportunity that looks good from the outside.

The word serve is defined as: to be of help, to be of use, to wait on, to attend and respect. Jesus himself told us that if we want to truly be his people, we are meant to do all of those things in our world. Who are you serving, who are you helping? Who are you respecting like Jesus?

Today I want to challenge you to look for opportunities to serve other people, help your mom do the dishes, sit by someone who is all alone in the lunch room, volunteer to help at the food pantry, just find a way to make a difference in your world.
